The IES Albany Section is proud to present our November 17th 2022, in-person, AIA Presentation DEVELOPING AN EFFECTIVE LIGHTING CONTROLS SEQUENCE OF OPERATION.  Presented by Michael Clemens – Mike is the Director of Sales for Controls and Embedded Lighting Solutions for Acuity Brands.  Previously he was Sr. Value Stream Manager for the nLight and Sensor Switch product lines at Acuity Brands, leading the group responsible for product development, product marketing and marketing communications. Prior to Acuity, Mike spent eight years at Newell Rubbermaid in various sales and marketing management roles and was responsible for launching and growing the RHINO product line in the Electrical and datacomm markets.  He also managed the IRWIN and LENOX channel marketing team for Newell Rubbermaid in the Electrical, Plumbing and Construction markets.  A veteran of the datacomm and telecom markets, Mike has previously directed the marketing functions for LAN and Fiber connectivity products as well as high speed fiber optic transport systems.  Mike holds a BA from Siena College and an MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Lighting controls can have a significant impact on energy savings and the owner’s bottom-line in the modern built environment. This course will provide insight into how codes, design trends and system integration influence the design and implementation of effective lighting controls strategies based upon a desired sequence of operation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Remove challenges and unknowns from the project design phase and convert them to expectations
  • Learn how to develop a simple sequence of operation from code requirements
  • Develop strategies to utilize lighting & controls to maximize energy savings by application
  • Create the proper documentation to ensure an effective sequence of operation and specification to deliver owner satisfaction
